En route

5a.m. tomorrow I am leaving on vacation. Two days camping in the Cederberg, then a bus to Swakopmund, Namibia, then another 14 wending slowly across northern Namibia, through Botswana, to Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe. Bush camping, game drives, antimalarial medications, bright clothing forbidden, binoculars recommended highly.

Hell yes, I am excited.

There's a lot of other stuff I could write about, including politics, people, that really amazing hike I dragged my ass out of bed for at 5:30a.m. on Saturday, etc etc etc. My plan is to catch up in the really lonely period around Christmas, when my work friends are on leave and my intern friends have nearly all gone home and I am spending all my remaining money in internet cafes.

My editor says I am doing an "excellent" job, and we are to get a drink when I get back into town to talk about whether there are ways I can more effectively direct my energy and deal with weak points and overall not waste the second half of my internship. A good note on which to leave for three weeks.
