But you read numbers like, "Candidates for the 2008 presidential race raised more than $1 billion" and you start thinking about all the other things that could be done with that money, or who James Cameron and his investors could have fed instead of making Avatar, or how many textbooks a company's marketing budget could get for schools that haven't had new ones in decades.
